The 2024 Old Trail Cup will be a seas on-long two-person match play net competition that will conclude by crownin g champions in late September. Each team is required to sign up by March 31 , 2024 either online or by calling 434-823-8101. Click here to regi ster online.
Conditions of the Competition
The field will be thirty-two (32) two-person teams. The thirty-two (32) te ams will be split up into 8 groups based upon each teams combined handicap. Each group of 4 teams will play Round Robin matches within the group. Each match is worth 1 point (1 point for win, 0 points for a loss). There will be no ties in the group stage. If tied after 18 holes, teams will proceed b ack to the first tee and play sudden death until there is a winner. Strokes will be given as the fell in the original match.
The team that achie ves the best record within their group will move on to the quarterfinals. T he team that comes in 2nd of each group will move onto the 2nd place bracke t where teams will also compete for a prize. In this case, eight teams will move on to the quarterfinals, where teams will play traditional better bal l match play. Tiebreakers will be determined by head-to-head match in the g roup.

Format:
The format for the Old Trail Cup will be fourball m
atch play. Each player will play their own ball and will select the best sc
ore between the two players on a team. All matches, will be played at 90% o
f each team members individual handicap stroked off the low ball of the fou
rsome.

*Please be aware of the time frames given when you sign up your team. In the event that two teams cannot play the professional staff will set a tee time for the last day of the time frame given. The players that show up for the tee time can then play the match. If only one team shows up, they will be determined the winner. Matches can be played by one individual from a team if a playing partner cannot participate.
Rules: All play will be governed under the USGA Rules of Golf. If you, your team or your group is in doubt of how to proceed under the rules, please play two balls and al ert the golf professional after the completion of your match. For fairness and equality as it pertains to hole #11, the tournament committee has decid ed to play #11 as a Par 4 for all teeing areas. It is the recommendation by the Virginia State Golf Association and the United States Golf Association that in competition style formats, no one team will play any hole as a dif ferent Par than their competitors. As it pertains to the handicapping of in dividual holes under the provision above, Hole # 11 will be handicapped as 3, Hole #14 as 7 & #16 as 5 for the gray tees during the competition.
Tie Breakers for Quarterfinals-Finals: If the match is tied after 18 h oles, the two teams will proceed back to the first tee and play sudden deat h until there is a winner. Strokes will be given as they fell in the origin al match.

Unlimited Members - $75 entry fe
